INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS SUBMITTING A
2011 ILEETA CONFERENCE PROPOSAL
The International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) will conduct its 2011 International Training Conference and Expo at the Westin Chicago North Shore on April 11-16, 2011. Developed for criminal justice instructors, this conference has a two-pronged focus: keeping officers alive and safe from harm, and improving instructional delivery to criminal justice professionals.
We are actively seeking presentation proposals for this conference. Along with the scheduled training tracks, we will also be hosting a number of specialized instructor certification programs and armorer courses. There will be eight training tracks; Instructor/Armorer Certification, Instructor Development, Management & Administration of Training, Officer Safety/Use of Force, Firearms Training/Deadly Force, Live Fire Firearms Training, Defensive Tactics and Other Specialized Topics. You must be an ILEETA member in good standing for your proposal to be considered.
New presenters and veterans may also wish to download and review:
Creating an Instructor Proposal.
The deadline for receiving your proposal at ILEETA Headquarters IS OCTOBER 31, 2010.
ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS ONLY, PLEASE.
YOU MUST USE THE FORM DOWNLOADED FROM THIS PAGE.
NEW FOR 2011: The proposal form has undergone some changes for 2011 so please read it completely. Most notably is the course outline requirement. The course outline will provide the selection committee more information and potential attendees a better understanding of the learning objectives of the course. Proposals incorrectly completed or submitted will be returned.
IMPORTANT: Please read the first paragraph of important instructions detailing the format to submit your proposal. File name of the document must be the primary presenter’s last name, first initial, middle initial and 2011ccp.doc. For example: jonesba2011ccp.doc. If you submit more than one proposal please add a number designator for example: jonesba_1_2011ccp.doc and jonesba_2_2011ccp.doc. The proposal form uses form fields with limited characters. If you cut and paste information into these fields, please make sure it still fits in the space provided. Please proofread your information.
Certification/Armorer Courses: Certifications are provided by the instructor and not ILEETA.
Conference registration fees will be waived for one primary instructor. Certification courses should provide the attendee with the ability to teach a specific topic or skill. Armorer courses certify the participant’s ability to perform maintenance and repairs to a specific weapon. Attendees should be evaluated for such competency. These courses require advance registration through the point of contact provided by the instructor. A fee may be charged which is to help defray the cost of certification materials provided to the attendee but this is not required. Such fees shall be collected by the instructor or point of contact. The instructor may also wish to provide materials/instruction/reading to attendees in advance of the course in order to save valuable time in the classroom.
Live Fire Firearms Training: We will be able to offer six to eight live fire courses. ILEETA will register attendees through and utilize a lottery if there are more registrants than available slots.
Safety Equipment: Mats will be standard for all defensive tactics courses. Attendees will be advised to bring appropriate protective gear and training equipment for the type of courses they intend to attend. ILEETA’s resources of training guns, knives, batons, etc. are very limited.
Projectiles: If the course involves the use of projectiles (e.g. Airsoft), it is most likely we will be unable to offer it at the host hotel. Keep in mind that off site facilities are limited and require transportation expenses.
Audio-Visual: ILEETA will have available LCD projectors with both VGA and HDMI connection capability. If your laptop uses another type of connection you will need to bring an adapter. All our projectors come with speaker systems, surge strip and extension cords.
Second instructors: It is only necessary to complete this section if your course is an 8 hour in length or more. If your course is shorter than 8 hours and you believe it requires an additional instructor, please describe this need in the special needs section. If approved, we will ask you to re-submit your proposal with the secondary instructor data included. Secondary instructors must also be ILEETA members to qualify for the conference tuition waiver.
Digital Handouts: In order to help attendees use what they learn from the course, handout materials are essential. ILEETA will provide a flash drive containing PowerPoint’s, lesson plans, articles and other documents and files to all attendees. There will be no other duplication of handout materials by ILEETA. Deadline for submission of such files is February 28, 2011. Files should be e-mailed to proposals@ileeta.org and are limited to 200 MB. Files can also be mailed to the ILEETA office on a CD provided they arrive by the due date.
Course Outline: Please complete within the course proposal document and do not send any other attachments. This information is important to the selection process and to attendees. Course outlines will be made available for selected courses on line prior to the conference.
Submission and Selection: Submitted proposals will receive a confirmation e-mail within 10 days. You may also wish to utilize a read receipt in your e-mail. Only one proposal per instructor will be selected and we will notify everyone by 12/1/10.
